Most of us are used to online shopping and even sign contracts online. During the pandemic, the advantages became even more important. With so many people shopping online with their credit cards, the systems are a target for criminals. In North America alone, cyber-crime is a 150bn $ “business”.
A viable answer to online fraud is the use of AI.
Think of an easy example: You live in New York City and you just bought a coffee with your credit card. You remain in the Big Apple, but an hour later, your account is used to pay for gas in central Los Angeles. As you obviously couldn’t travel this fast, the transaction likely provokes the AI algorithm to flag it for further investigation by a human.
